Flame Princess Wig Part III, and new endeavors

It's been a busy weekend! I had a wonderful time -- visited with a dear friend who was in from out of town, heard great music at an outdoor music festival, AND got to hole up and make things. Every weekend should be three days long.

So! First things first. My wig is finished!

Pinned and sprayed to hell and back

Toilet paper rolls: good for everything!

(If you're looking for the more detailed how-to, it's here; this is just the finishing touches)

So actually, I repinned and sprayed again because of the way the curl there (right in the photo, left curl) flips forward rather than out. Also, I felt like I'd be happier storing the thing all pinned up; I don't want to risk damage, and since those are the bits that only look right thanks to all the hair spray ... you get it.

So! Done and dusted. I also was given a bunch of amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing fabric by an artist friend of mine, and I'm hoping that that'll be enough for the overdress. Photos of sewing to come after next weekend, I hope!

Other things I made this weekend:

Apple pie, made with the fruits (literally) of our apple-picking labors a couple weeks ago

AND alas, I didn't take progress shots of the other thing, but here's a teaser:

Awwwwwwwww, yiss.
Since taking that photo, I've also painstakingly pleated and sewn five (of twelve) half-yards of rainbow chiffon to the neckband. Also, that photo doesn't adequately convey the amazingness of that wig. That costume is going to be EPIC. Woooooooo!
